Apricots have been cultivated since ancient times. However, their exact origin is difficult to pinpoint, with scientists saying they’ve been domesticated three separate times, once in Armenia, once in China, and once in India. It should come as no surprise then that apricots have cultural significance all over the world. In Armenia, for example, apricots are the national fruit, and are frequently featured on souvenirs. In China, the fruit is associated with medicine and education, with one doctor, Dong Feng, having had patients plant apricot trees as payment. As for us, we just know it tastes great in tea.
